ORNL Super User

If such a designation existed, Nazanin Bassiri-Gharb would be on the fast track to becoming an Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) “super user.” Her research on nanoscale materials has taken her all across the ORNL campus, from scanning probe and electron microscopes at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences to neutron reflectometry at the Spallation Neutron Source and radiation equipment in the Materials Science and Technology Division.

New Faculty Find Way through Mentoring

For new faculty, the university environment is not necessarily new but can be an overwhelming entity of operations during the first years. At Tech, many find their place among their peers on campus through mentoring.

To some, mentoring is a formalized one-on-one relationship with a senior advisor; to others, it’s casual conversations, relationships that form over time, or short bursts of well-timed advice.

Bras Presented Georgia Power Professor of Excellence Award

At six home games each football season "The Georgia Power Professor of Excellence Award" presentation takes place on the field. The award recognizes one selected Professor from each of the six Colleges at Georgia Tech and is a perfect bridge between academics and athletics. Georgia Power representatives are on hand to present that game's "Professor of Excellence" with a $1,000 contribution to their College's general fund.
